Buna N Rubber

Buna N rubber sheets are available for a range of applications in the industrial markets. Nitrile rubber name of Buna N rubber has outstanding stretching capabilities while remaining strong enough to be elastic.  Nitrile Buna N rubber sheets are available in different sizes and can be ordered in other size by special request.
Nitrile rubber is the mainly used elastomeric for O-rings and further sealing devices. Nitrile Rubber is Also known as Buna N, nitrile is a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile . The name Buna N is resultant from butadiene and natrium. The “N” in Bunna N stands for acrylonitrile.

The butadiene segment imparts elasticity and little temperature flexibility. It also contains the unsaturated twice bond that is the site for cross linking or vulcanization. This unsaturated dual bond is also the major attack site for heat, chemicals, and oxidation.

The acrylonitrile segment impart hardness, tensile strength, and abrasion resistance, as well as fuel and oil resistance. Heat resistance and gas impermeability are also improved through increased ACN content, which typically ranges from 18% to 45%. A standard, general-purpose nitrile compound usually contains 34% ACN.

Nitrile compounds do better than most other elastomers due to high tensile strength, as well as brilliant abrasion, tear, and compression set resistance. Nitriles also have awfully good aging properties under severe situation. Because of the dual bonds present in the polybutadiene parts of the chemical backbone, nitrile compounds have poor resistance to ozone, sunlight, and weathering. They should not be stored near ozone-generating electric motors or equipment.
